Our name
Our company name comes from Nordic mythology where Andhrímnir is the chef of Valhalla, the residence of the powerful god, Odin. Andhrimnir carves the delicious meat from Sæhrímnir – the sacred pig that after being eaten comes back to life again to become the delicacy each night. The meat is consumed by Viking warriors who return from the battlefield hungry, celebrating Andhrímnir’s culinary expertise and Sæhrímnir’s generous provision of nutritional sustenance.
Like the mythological figure, Andhrimnir, we at Andrimner seek to add value to the pork production chain to produce high quality and healthy pork.
A little history…
1960
DNA Genetics is born
DNA is born from a family of pig producers,
Pillen Family Farms, who established their first farm in 1960.
2003
A few years later …
DNA Genetics implements DanAvl genetics and becomes Danbred North America.
2005
55,000 sows
The Pillen Family Farms project grows to 55,000 breeding sows.
2012
Andrimner starts distributing DanAvl.
2013
The first pig embryos are born in Andrimner.
DanAvl disassociates.
DNA is disassociated from DanAvl. They maintain the genetic standards, and they adapt them to the needs of the American market.
2015
DNA Genetics expands …
DNA Genetics starts an expansion phase with new multiplication farms,
AI stations, and with significant growth in the American market, being present in the
major pig production companies.
2016
DNA Genetics, number one supplier of Duroc terminal sires
Today, DNA Genetics is the number one genetic supplier of Duroc finishing boars (28% of the American market) and second in sales of maternal lines. (13% of the American market).
Agreement signed between ANDRIMNER and DNA Genetics
2017
Arrival of boars in Spain
Arrival of DNA Genetics boars at La Coromina Artificial Insemination station in Vilada (Barcelona). The first L200 YY arrive to establish the Genetic nucleus in Spain (Levosaita farm) and a multiplication farm in Germany. Andrimner GmbH is established.
2018
The year 2018
First matings in the genetic nucleus in Spain (Levosaita farm) and
in the German multipliplication farm.
