Following the recommendations given by ANPROGAPOR for prevention and action against COVID-19, our technical staff has highlighted some of the main points that we should consider on our farms.
1. ON-FARM CONTAINMENT MEASURES
1. Prevention, and protection of workers
Inform:
- Illness
- General prevention measures – hand washing, distancing
Prevention:
- Essential visits, if possible stagger with the workers. Veterinarians
- Cleaning and disinfection
- Avoid direct contact as much as possible – No physical meetings
- Do not use shared vehicles. If necessary the smaller the groups, the better
- Temperature monitoring at the farm entrance
- Use masks
- Watch out when using gloves! The virus can stay on them so they have to be changed often
2. Ensure that the farm is working to prevent infection. If someone is infected
- Stagger workers by area and maintain distance between them: gestation, farrowing
- Schedule different entrance, meal, and exit times
- Clean and disinfect changing rooms between groups
- Define work zones – how far each group goes
- Do morning and afternoon shifts (70-30)
- Do not coincide
- Clean and disinfect contact areas
- Keep workers at home if necessary
